Whether you’re a seasoned trail rider looking for something new or a competitive-minded equestrian seeking a fresh challenge, this event offers a unique way to test your skills, your horse’s adaptability, and your teamwork as a pair. Mounted orienteering combines navigation, strategy, and horsemanship. Riders use a map and compass to locate checkpoints spread across the farm, choosing their own routes and pace. It’s not about speed alone — it’s about decision-making, partnership, and reading the terrain together. This demo-style event is educational and approachable, with guidance provided throughout the day. No prior orienteering experience is required. You’ll learn the basics of map reading, compass use, and course strategy before heading out on course. What’s included: Your own orienteering compass to use and keep A guided introduction to mounted orienteering A thoughtfully designed course set across our farm Friendly competition with prizes awarded Lunch provided for all participants This event is ideal for riders who: Enjoy trail riding and want an added mental challenge Want to build confidence and communication with their horse Love learning new equestrian skills Want a fun, social ride with friends and fellow horse enthusiasts Horses should be comfortable riding out alone or with others and navigating varied terrain.
